Education

Kilsi Rodriguez Bold is an award wining New York City Career and Technical Education Teacher, She received her Bachelor's in Psychology from The University at Albany in 2012 and received her Master’s in Special Education Degree from Hunter College in 2014.

The Natural Hair Journey that led to it all…

She decided to go natural her senior year of college in 2012. She transitioned for three years and big chopped in June of 2015. As a Afro-Latina with kinky curls, she felt that there wasn't enough representation of her type of hair in the media, Instagram & YouTube. She decided to learn as much as possible about how to care and style her type of  hair. On December 31st 2015, she started her Instagram page (Le_Frosie) to serve as a resource to those who also felt underrepresented, lost or unable to embrace their natural hair. She used her platform to inspire, empower and help other women create their own beauty standards.

The Start of Afros & Rizos to the Start of Naturally Us

Kilsi decided she had a big enough following to take her influence beyond social media.  She began planning an event that would represent everything that her platform stands for. Tirelessly working her full-time job, coaching and vlogging she was able to make her vision a reality.

As a bilingual content creator, she wanted to stay true to her roots. The goal of Afros & Rizos is to help women of all ages feel inspired, empowered and able to create their own beauty standards. With the growth of the natural hair, self -love/ acceptance movement, Afros and Rizos was created to offer a safe space where women in different parts of their journey can come together and know that they are not alone.

Via the success of 7 Afros & Rizos events, our founder realized that we were offering more than just hair tips at our events and decided that it was time to build an organization that stood for everything she and Afros & Rizos stood for. Hence Naturally Us Collective was born.
